Welcome
to the March 2000 Edition of
AOLM
This edition features an interview
with one of the brightest lights in the
amputee world - Tom Whittaker. Tom's
great trek to Everest in 98 told the
world that amps could conquer the world
with a little help from the prosthetic
industry. Tom chat's with us about the
ups and downs of his interesting
life.
As summer rapidly approaches (or
leaves you) depending on where on the
globe you are, have a look at an
interesting product the "active ankle"
in the review section.
As if to remind us that the ski
season is still with us, results from
the IPC World Ski Championships are
featured in this issue, Canada and the
US did rather well.
The World Issues section features
two aspects of contradicting
information. On one hand we have the
depiction of amputees in less-developed
nations and on the other we have those
of us in the more-developed nations and
interesting pictoral contrast.
The next edition of AOLM is due out
May 1, 2000. I hope to have a report
from the Advancement of Prosthetics
Conference in San Diego in April and a
report from the Academy meeting later
in March.
May your spring spring upon you
early this year.
