Welcome
to the July 2000 Edition of
AOLM
As those who attended the Amputee
Coalition of America Conference in
Orlando will know, I didn't make it to
this years event in Florida. So I am
going to have to rely on those who were
there to deliver the accounts of what
went on and to whom ! Many thanks to
the contributors for that article.
After many years of deliberations
this issue marks our first address of
the devotee and wannabee phenomena. Its
a difficult subject for many and we
hope to bring the many disparaging
points of view to you in the next few
issues.
In sport everyone is gearing up for
the summer Paralympic event in Sydney.
Always interesting to see mainstram
media coverage of this event, it has
increased over the years but not always
in a positive way.
A TV surprise came in the form of
amputee Eddie Macgee on the show Big
Brother. I dug up some old photos of
Eddie, just to let everyone know he's
not a faker :-)
Again, this was an extremely
difficult edition to publish. The job I
have had since the end of March takes a
lot of my creative powers, add that to
the regular distractions of summer
(X-Men) and it does not get any
easier.
With this lack of inspiration in
mind, it looks I will be wrapping up
AOLM by the end of the year. So far the
November issue will be the last. I have
some other directions to pursue, namely
the burgeoning internet music industry
which I have long since neglected.
Things are prone to change, but it
looks more and more like we are in the
final home stretch for AOLM.
And if you know someone who might
want to buy this site or its contents
please let me know.
