Goodbye

Hello

|
Welcome to the first edition of Amputation
Online magazine for the year 2000. Hopefully the
Y2K bug has not shut your computer down and you
have not reverted back to the dark ages where you
live.
As you will have already noticed AOLM has a new
layout and design. We would be more than happy to
hear from you regarding this
igregson@amputee-online.com
We have tried to give AOLM a more "stylish" look
yet retain the easy to read aspect of white
background and black text.
Its seems everyone is reflecting back on the
last hundred years and looking forward to the next
100. Not to be left out, this edition is dedicated
to looking forward. We used the SJU Amputee list to
survey what amputees want to see achieved over the
next century, some interesting responses came out
of that.
This morning I received word that Georgie
Maxfield passed away. Georgie was one of the
founding partners of the Amputee Coalition of
America and founded the Northern Nevada Amputee
Support Group. Her tireless efforts have helped
countless numbers of amputees over the years. It
was my honour and privilege to have known Georgie.
As a tribute we have reposted the interview from
the November 99 edition. The interview with Bonnie
St John Deanne will appear in the March 1 issue.
AOLM now enters its 4th year of production. It
has been a very interesting 4 years since June
1996. I have come across some incredible
individuals, contrasted with an industry in North
America that has a lot to learn about us. AOLM
remains by and for amputees.
Happy New Year and all the best to you are your
in the new millennium.
